So my friend just showed me this poster for a Wizard Of Oz festival coming up in September super close by where I live. From what I can gather, it is their first time putting this on. I tried attaching the poster so hopefully it shows up. I do have some small concerns about it, primarily the fact that the movie seems to be the big part of the poster and if they will incorporate the movie(s) and the books together.

Yes. Very MGM-looking. The shoes are red and the Lion is walking upright. Hehe. There is a rainbow in the sky. The song is way popular. Most people don't realize it, but there is no rainbow anywhere in the movie.
I don't see very well, but I can't find the URL to this FaceBook page. But then, I can be looking right at it and still not see it.
"To be individual, my friends, to be different from others, is the only way to become distinguished from the common herd. Let us be glad, therefore, that we differ from one another in form and in disposition. Variety is the spice of life and we are various enough to enjoy one another's society; so let us be content."

They uploaded a picture saying you can meet your favorite characters and they had a picture of the characters from the movie. So I'm going with the idea that it is more geared towards the movie, which is dissapointing, but I'm still going to go since it is so close by.

Yeah, I mean, you might meet some new folks, maybe even other book fans. Got a book-themed shirt or something? Wear it.

There seems to be a preponderence (if that's really a word, and that I spelled it right, both of which I have my deubts about) of Oz festivals right now, primarily in the midwest. Remember, these are not Oz conventions, but just an excuse for a town to throw a party. And many, many more people know about Oz from The Movie than the books. So let them have their fun. Showing up in a book-themed shirt is a great idea, maybe with flyers for the International Wizard of Oz Club…

I have my Oz tattoo I'm gonna show off. Also have plans to make a pair of Ruby Slippers and Silver Shoes, gonna wear one pair from each set to show my love for both.

I'm super excited for this and accept that people are going to be there mainly because of the movie but I'm still hoping a tiny bit is for the book too.
