Apparently today was Oz Day on Syfy Wire (the news/magazine website of the Syfy Channel), as they had these three items up:

http://www.blastr.co...ks-l-frank-baum
http://www.blastr.co...eatures-land-oz
They really dropped the ball more than once in that video in the middle one…

Wow. They really did drop the ball. I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a great recap when she said Frank L. Baum instead of L. Frank Baum, heck they even show the cover of The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz with his name on it.

Not half bad. I do not agree that "most people" only accept Baum's books as canon. Not based on what I've seen at the various IWoOC conventions, anyway. Seems to me that Thompson wrote more Oz books than Baum did. But I noticed that this lady not only got his name wrong, but also one of the titles. It seems that the word "Lost" in "The Lost Princess of Oz" somehow got...eh, lost. She also called the Gump a "flying moose." Still, I am astonished at how much she actually got right. She even knew that the shoes were silver and not red :)
"To be individual, my friends, to be different from others, is the only way to become distinguished from the common herd. Let us be glad, therefore, that we differ from one another in form and in disposition. Variety is the spice of life and we are various enough to enjoy one another's society; so let us be content."
